The asteroid, more commonly known as the starfish, or sea star, is an invertebrate that lives mainly in an oceanic environment. These unique and unusual creatures have a number of arms that protrude away from their spiny skinned bodies.

Starfish does not have a brain. Starfish has also evolved to fit their environment by developing feeding habits. Most starfish are carnivorous they prey on animals such as oysters, mussels, sea snails, and also clams. They find their prey with light sensing eyespots.

There are an estimated the bottom of the ocean floor. Their mouth is directly under them . They used for crawling, attachment, and eating. Their arm length varies, as well as the number of arms. They could have as little as four all the way to as many body structure. Their skin is rough and leathery, it usually has spines or spikes of some sort.

However, there are many species of starfish that have 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 arms. Each arm that extends out of the "body" is covered on the bottom by many tube-like feet. These feet help convey the starfish but taking water in and the pumping it out, therefore enabling it to move.
